Growing up in St. Louis as a first–generation child of working class Chinese immigrants, Jing became aware of the injustices of the American education system from an early age and realized the importance of education as a means of empowerment, particularly for marginalized students. As a student at the College, Jing spent most of her time outside of classes working with the Phillips Brooks House Association, a student–run nonprofit public service organization affiliated with Harvard, as an after-school tutor and summer school program director for youth in the Greater Boston area.
Jing is currently teaching 6th grade math at STRIVE-Prep Federal in Denver, CO.
