Interests: social justice work, youth development
Growing up in St. Louis as a first–generation child of working class Chinese immigrants, Jing became aware of the injustices of the American education system from an early age and realized the importance of education as a means of empowerment, particularly for marginalized students. As a student at the College, Jing spent most of her time outside of classes working with the Phillips Brooks House Association, a student–run nonprofit public service organization affiliated with Harvard, as an after-school tutor and summer school program director for youth in the Greater Boston area. After receiving an A.B. in Economics, Jing joined the Harvard Teacher Fellows, and will be teaching sixth-grade Mathematics at STRIVE Prep–Federal in Denver, Colorado. She hopes to continue pursuing her interests in educational equity and youth development during her time in the program, and later, as an educator.
